UCP is looking for Direct Support Professionals for our Residential Locations in Boston (Hyde Park, Jamaica Plain, Dorchester,)
United Cerebral Palsy of MetroBoston(UCP) is a progressive, non-profit agency committed to advancing the independence, productivity and full citizenship of people with disabilities.
Qualifications: Minimum high school diploma and a minimum of one year in a human service related position, preferably working with individuals with developmental and/or physical disabilities. Candidates must have a valid driving license, clean driving record, and be willing to drive UCP vehicles. Must be able to complete Medication Administration Program (MAP), CPR/ First Aid within first 3 months of hire (UCP provides these trainings).
Responsibilities: The responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assisting individuals in meeting the mission of UCP.
- Assisting individuals with activities of daily living and skill development.
- Providing personal care to consumers.
- Participating in social and recreational activities both within and outside of the home.
- Assisting individuals to develop and foster relationships in their community.
Working Conditions: The DSP (Direct Care) is expected to commit the time and talents necessary to fulfill the requirements of the position in an exemplary manner. Travel is primarily local and will be required to transport individuals in large or small vehicles. The DSP must possess the physical ability and willingness to assist persons served in personal care, which will include physical transfers and assistance with bathroom routines. Must have a full range of motion including the ability to bend, push, pull, bear-weight, and stoop for approximately forty-five minutes at a time. Will be required to attend meeting/training during unscheduled hours. May be required to work at another UCP location during time on shift as staffing coverage necessitates.
