The PacWest (California, Washington and Oregon) Diligence and Integration team manages the M&A (Mergers & Acquisitions) project and corresponding relationships, both internally and externally, from the point of letter-of-intent through close.


The Diligence & Integration Manager supports Optum PNW in managing all aspects of the Diligence and Integration process for the acquisition of providers or medical groups joining the Pacific Northwest Region. This individual will need to be highly motivated, organized, process-oriented, self-directed and able to manage multiple projects across regions or states at any one time. This position requires the ability to travel within the PNW region as required by project requirements.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage the 300+ acquisition task list, ownership of the project agenda, and overall communication, while holding numerous associated departments (lanes) accountable for their assigned responsibilities throughout the acquisition process
  • Set project-related deadlines, assigns responsibilities, monitor and track status of all diligence or transactional integration key activities, and summarize progress for reporting out to the leadership team
  • Serve as a primary liaison between the seller, operations, and functional lanes within the organization
  • Rely on project management experience to plan and accomplish goals by working closely with operations and departmental leadership to complete due Diligence and pre-close integration process for acquisitions
  • Maintain attention to detail in documenting the entire project transition process using a project management software system
  • Participate in the designing and revising of operating process for various departments to improve efficiency and functionality as is relates to the acquisition process
  • Interact with all functional lanes including, but not limited to, Information Technology, Human Capital, Payor Contracting, Accounting, Accounts Payable, Revenue Cycle Management, Purchasing, Treasury, and Legal on a regular basis to resolve outstanding action items necessary for a smooth transition within acquisition timeline
  • Use business knowledge and experience to bring attention to any potential ethics and compliance issues particularly related to the acquisition process
  • Participate in preliminary due diligence process and review, partnering with the deal execution team to gather information needed for valuation
  • Serve as a primary point of contact and super-user for the Virtual Data Room (VDR) and Smartsheets system used during the due diligence process.
  • Work remotely on a regular basis as needed by travel, project, or team requirements.
  • Supports standardization initiative between WA, OR, CA, and other Optum West states as needed.
  • Support new groups in their close process; recommend improvements and enhancement while navigating the pre-close and post-close Operations Integration and Optum support teams and assist with plans to mitigate identified deficiencies to provide stability throughout the process.
  • Ad hoc and special project management as needed

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of project management experience focused on enterprise-wide business projects and major strategic initiatives
  • 3+ years of healthcare experience - Familiar with healthcare concepts, practices, and procedures as it relates to providers and medical clinics
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously while effectively driving progress towards established goals
  • Full COVID-19 vaccination is an essential job function of this role. Candidates located in states that mandate COVID-19 booster doses must also comply with those state requirements. Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or equivalent experience
  • PMP Certification or equivalent education or experience
  • Mergers & acquisitions experience
  • Experience coordinating across a matrix organization
  • Experience working in a corporate environment with multiple internal and external stakeholders

California and Washington Residents Only: The salary range for California residents is $67,800 to $133,100.
