About the role
This job role is responsible for managing, supporting, and updating critical application platforms and its contents. This position will serve as a subject matter expert in building, designing, and maintaining application platforms in On-premise /AWS Cloud /Hybrid environments. The Digital Platform Engineer will support and maintain application platform for multiple applications, microservices and microsites with various duties such as producing reports, software updates, monitoring uptime, and provide customer support, to ensure web services and programs function securely and efficiently.

The Digital Platform Engineer is expected to perform the following duties:

• Establishes credibility throughout the organization by being a proactive leader who understands the needs of each business and ensuring that all operational activities are directed towards meeting their goals and service levels.
• Ensures all changes are planned, tested, and follow the change management procedures.
• Ensures Application platform and middleware (OnPrem and Cloud) is properly patched, monitored, and maintained. Works closely with the Application Support team and L&R architecture team to help shape a clear technology lifecycle strategy.
• Actively participates in the disaster recovery efforts, ensuring redundancy of all middleware infrastructure platforms to mitigate major business losses in the event of disaster outages.
• Builds/maintains a strong IT control and secure environment ensuring privileged access is only granted to those with an approved role. Works closely with IT Risk and Compliance to ensure security and compliance standards are followed as well as respond to internal/external audits.
• Provides leadership in planning for the future infrastructure, proposing new directions and technologies. Participates in the setting of technical standards and drive migration efforts to the future technology infrastructure.
• Leads the creation and automation of operational processes and procedures, providing management by metrics to facilitate capacity, resource planning, continuous process improvement and adoption of Site Reliability Engineering practices.
• Ensure that all technologies follow operational standards and proper training of multiple individual's takes place prior to production rollout and support.
• Conduct performance tuning and improvement of business applications.
• Perform general application troubleshooting and resolution during system unavailability.
• Interact with application stakeholders and Infrastructure teams.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

5+ Years

• Professional experience with depth of IT experience that includes supporting large enterprise infrastructure, middleware and microservices environment.
• Technical experience with Windows, UNIX/Linux, networking and major middleware technologies (e.g. WebSphere, IIB, MQ and DataPower).
• Experience supporting 24x7 operations.
• Project management and delivery skills.
• Has a clear understanding of ITIL.
• Understanding of DevOps concepts.

Preferred/Plus Experience:
Application Platform Engineer should be expertise in below technology stacks:

• Configure and support various AWS services and supporting containerized ecosystem.
• IBM WebSphere technology stack such WebSphere Application Server V9.x; IBM MQ, IIB, HTTP Server)
• Open Source middleware stack such as Apache tomcat, Webserver, NGINX, Spring boot, NodeJS, Rabbit MQ
• Microsoft IIS platforms
• Python and bash Scripting
• Automation tools like Ansible, Jenkins
• Deploying and configuring web services on IBM DataPower ESB
• Implementing SSL-based configurations
• Network load balancing and firewall configuration
