Position Summary
Design, develop, and implement monitoring solutions for the Digital applications running in on-prem, private, public, and multi-cloud environments using observability stacks like Appdynamics, Prometheus, Grafana, Google cloud monitors (GCM), etc. Administration and development of monitors using Appdynamics, NewRelic, Quantum Metrics, etc. Design and develop automation of routine tasks based on GitOps, Jenkins and Python.
Work Break Down structure
This person will be 70% hands-on with administration and automation tasks for AppDynamics, New Relic, and Quantum metrics. The remaining 30% of work is related to Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), which includes tasks involving Prometheus, Grafana and other similar tools.
Key Stakeholders that the individual will interact with daily:

  • Architect for the team
  • Team members
  • Digital applications Engineering team, production support, other SRE teams.
  • Broader scope observability - other SRE architects

Expected KPI's
  • You will be a hands-on, individual contributor working on Application Performance Monitoring tools Appdynamics, NewRelic, Quantum Metrics, etc.
  • The right candidate will be a strong monitoring subject matter expert (SME) with ability to work with various teams to understand the monitoring requirements, design, develop and implement an effective monitoring solution and alerting strategy.
  • Build and configure application business transactions (BT's), service end points (SEP), Information points, Errors, Data collectors, etc.
  • Hands on experience in setting up end-user monitoring Synthetics, browser, and mobile.
  • Work with production support, engineering, and other teams to enable standard alerting to ensure application issues are caught before it causes a major issue.
  • Subject matter expert for monitoring strategies, APM monitoring, with a passion for automation.
  • Will additionally provide collaboration/contribution with architecture on POCs, runway items and technical artifacts.
  • Act as a technical lead for the APM team to drive the strategic efforts outlined in the roadmap plan.

Required Qualifications
  • 5+ Years of strong experience in Appdynamics administration, agent installation, configuration, customization, and troubleshooting.
  • 5+ Years of good working experience with Appdynamics Synthetics monitoring or equivalent.
  • 3+ Years working experience in configuring Business transaction rules, Service End points, Information points and Remote services.
  • 3+ Years hands on experience in configuring Appdynamics database and machine agent extensions.
  • 3+ Years' experience in automating routine administrative tasks using REST calls, scripting, Jenkins, github/gitlab or equivalent to ease the framework.
  • 3+ Years of experience in Python, Java and Shell.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Good understanding of web/mobile application frameworks with common languages like java, node.js, go, etc.
  • Experience in configuring end user monitoring, synthetics, and browser.
  • Experience in creating Dashboards and reports.
  • Experience with any of the tools like NewRelic, quantum metrics, mPulse, is a plus.
  • Experience with one or more of Prometheus, Grafana, Alert Manager is an advantage.
  • Adept at collaboration and teamwork

Education
  • Bachelor's degree from accredited University or equivalent work experience.

Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$90,000.00 - $180,000.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
