Dietary Cook

A candidate for Cook must possess exemplary work ethics and the ability to assist and interact with seniors in a caring, kind and respectful manner. Must be able to speak and read English well enough to understand and be understood by a typical resident; to understand recipes, menus, food preference and diet charts for residents; and other communications with residents and staff concerning food service. The position requires the physical ability to lift, carry, push and pull 40 pounds. Must be able to move quickly about the entire facility to assist residents and/ or staff in case of emergency.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare all food served to residents, staff, families and visitors for meals, activities and special events.
• Assist Kitchen Manager (KM) as requested in ordering, receiving and stocking groceries and supplies received from vendors.
• Prepare food that is consistently high-quality. Meals should be prepared in accordance with established menus; meals should be tasty and nutritious; meals should be attractive in appearance and should be served in a timely fashion, at the appropriate temperatures.
• Maintain up-to-date understanding of any special dietary needs and preferences of residents and prepare plates accordingly.
• As instructed by KM, assist in training Kitchen Helpers or dietary aides. Communicate with KM regarding any unsatisfactory perfo1mance by food service staff.
• Maintain kitchen, dining room and food preparation areas in accordance with local and state health department rules and company policy (see Kitchen Rules).
• Observe proper hygiene and sanitation procedures in all aspects of daily duties.
• Perform routine and assigned cleaning and equipment maintenance tasks.
• Attend all meetings and in-services as requested by Kitchen Manager and Administrator.
• Remain observant and aware of any situations or occurrences in facility that may pose a safety hazard to residents or staff. Report such observation immediately to supervisor.
• Perform job duties in accordance with safety rules.
• Perform other duties as may from time to time be requested by KM or Administrator.
• Be available to work at times, days or positions other than those scheduled as requested by KM or Administrator.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $31,030.00 - $31,886.00 per year
