The role of Diagnostics and Calibration Engineer will be part of the Engineering design team for the Nextest division based in San Jose, CA and report to the Software Engineering Manager. At Nextest, the Software Engineering group is responsible not only for the runtime libraries that drive the tester, but also for the diagnostics and calibration software used internally by hardware engineering and manufacturing but also by customers on the test floor. We are seeking an Electrical Engineer for our Nextest division to develop and maintain calibration, characterization, and diagnostics programs for the Magnum family of testers.
In this role you will:
Develop, maintain, and extend existing calibration, characterization, and diagnostic software programs.
Work directly with hardware engineers to develop new calibration, characterization, and diagnostic tests, as well collect and help analyze data for design validation of new and existing products.
Identify hardware and or software issues and either recommend or implement solutions to the designs.
Work directly with Product Engineering and Manufacturing to transition new product releases between the Engineering group and the Manufacturing group.
Good understanding of common analog and digital circuit elements:
o DC-DC converters, power supplies, transistors, diodes, op-amps, etc.
o Understanding of noise, its sources and filtering techniques
o Digital to analog converters and analog to digital converters.
Able to read electronic circuit schematics and device specification sheets.
Understanding of diagnostic and calibration principles.
Able to translate hardware register/memory maps to software models/objects.
Develop software solutions for hardware test requirements.
Experience communicating over various buses; GPIB, I2C, SPI, PCIe, etc.
Use of digital oscilloscopes, digital multi-meters, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers and frequency counters.
Ability to create and present design documents and diagrams.

Desirable Skills
Experience working with Automatic Test Equipment (ATE).
Understanding of DRAM and SRAM memory devices and interfaces; GDDR, LPDDR, etc.
Thorough C++ Object Oriented programming skills.
Familiarity with Microsoft Visual Studio development tools, the Standard Template Library, and working with Dynamic Link Library projects.
Proficiency with a source code control system (Git experience preferred)
Data analysis skills; 6-sigma, Cp, Cpk, etc.
An understanding of high-speed signal integrity considerations (transmission line theory).
Electrical Engineering degree; MS with 3+ yrs. or BS with 5+ yrs. of experience.
