Summary

The Diagnostic Scheduler is responsible for the courteous and prompt scheduling of all patient diagnostic testing appointments ordered by physicians and efficient management of the MRI schedule as well as providing patient care and assisting in duties related to the MRI department.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to schedule patients for all diagnostic testing ordered by physicians; including but
not limited to:
  • Greet patients in a prompt, courteous and helpful manner
  • Verification of accurate information on all pre-screening forms and orders sent
over by clinic staff
  • Record complete and accurate patient clinical, demographic and insurance
information upon scheduling appointment
  • Schedule patients for a Discuss Test Results Appointment per physicians order
  • Accurate data entry into the Electronic Medical Records
  • Communicate with other facilities to schedule other diagnostic testing not done at VOVN
  • Check-out patients who are scheduling tests
  • Ordering and retrieving proper labs needed for various studies
  • Answer patient phone calls and return patient messages in a prompt manner
  • Ability to assist MRI technologist in duties related to the MRI department; including but not limited to:
  • Contact patient the day prior to study to confirm appointment, remind patient to bring prior imaging and reports with them
  • Confirm medicated patients will have a driver
  • Organize pre-screening forms and all labs needed for the next day’s schedule, calculate the GFR to ensure patient is safe to get contrast
  • Explain procedures to patient to ensure safety and comfort during exam. Make sure consent form is signed. Load prior images into PACS or send to Vero Radiology if unable to load.
  • Verify that patient has a discuss test results appointment
  • Collaborate with clinical staff and physicians when needed
  • Assists patients with all types of matters and ensures the needs of patients and non-patients are met by direct and/or indirect means
  • Maintain cleanliness and appearance of MRI scheduling desk and changing rooms. Keep changing room stocked and take inventory of supplies.

Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed at any time at the discretion of the Administrator or the Board, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing.


Performance Standards
1. Knowledge of medical practice and care to assist in giving patient care.
2. Knowledge of MRI and other diagnostic testing procedures, safety-related issues and MRI protocols.
3. Knowledge in insurance verification and pre-certification
4. Skill in obtaining and maintaining accurate records in all aspects of medical office.
5. Ability to communicate clearly.
6. Ability to initiate and complete tasks related to job duties without direct request of supervisor.
7. Ability to work and coordinate with the director of clinical services, front desk lead, physicians, MRI techs, clinical and front desk staff.
8. Ability to multi-task with phones, patients and other responsibilities
9. Be proficient in all office, computer, organizational and written and verbal communication skills.
10. Maintains strictest confidentiality of patient information and office business practices
