SUMMARY OF OVERALL PURPOSE
The Development Specialist provides support for all internal and external fundraising and special events including the annual Gingerbread Run, Over the Edge, Holiday Events, Golf Events and any additional special events. This role is responsible for the pre-planning, guest lists, fundraising, staffing vendor relations, and execution of these events. This position will be personally responsible for select Development events that will require meeting with clients to discuss needs, maintaining partnerships with vendors and caterers, overseeing set up, execution and cleanup of events.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Events and Fundraising
- Manage assigned fundraising and special events with new and existing partners that align with the strategic plan, prioritize work to meet all deadlines while being adaptable and responsive to change.
- Manage all logistical planning and execution of special events.
- Serve as liaison and event support for all special events.
- Manage vendor relations, contracting, and purchasing as needed for special events.
- Manage guest lists and attendee outreach for special events.
- Attends and monitors special events activities to ensure client satisfaction.
- Conduct research on potential donors, partners and fundraising opportunities.
- Assist in booking onsite and offsite volunteer groups of partners.
- Coach and support team fundraisers in their effort to exceed their financial goals.
- Coordinate and provide tours to prospective partners.
- Develop and maintain relationships with external constituents (donors, corporate partners, organizations, etc.) to garner strong support for the Village work and mission.
- Support logistical and strategic aspects for fundraising special events as directed.
- Manage some third party fundraisers as assigned.
Business and Fiscal Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of $1 million in revenue.
- Prepare meeting agendas, recaps and budgets, while controlling expenses.
- Manage in-kind and sponsorship solicitations as it relates assigned fundraising.
- Maintain and update Salesforce records.
- Review billing, and purchases for Director approval of payment.
- Prepare and disseminate weekly reports highlighting action plan progress, new objectives, and fundraising tactics at Development meeting and via weekly email.
- Represent Give Kids The World at tradeshows, presentations, and awareness functions on Village property as well as externally in the community and nationally, as needed.
- Make periodic visits, explore specific needs, and resolve problems in order to build and maintain constituent relationships while acknowledging, stewarding and growing fundraising resources as needed/requested.

- Ability to travel 10%
- Ability to lift and transfer 25 lbs.

- Willing to work many weekends and non-traditional hours.

- Proficient with MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook, Salesforce with the ability to learn new computer programs.
- Ability to operate a motorized vehicle, including battery-operated golf cart.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Must meet acceptable attendance and punctuality requirements, which are essential functions for the position.
- Bachelor's Degree in related field.
- 3+ years of event experience in a non-profit environment.
