Job Title: Development Director
Classification: Exempt, Fulltime
Hiring Range: $80,000 - $93,000 Annually
Position Overview:
The Development Director works closely with the development team (Development Associate and Marketing & Communications Coordinator), Executive Director, consultant(s) (including grant writing) and the Board Development subcommittee to develop a comprehensive fundraising strategy to achieve Neighbors’ financial goals.
Supervised by: Executive Director
Supervises: Development Associate and Marketing & Communications Coordinator.
Essential Job Functions:
Leadership:
o Serves as an important member of Neighbors leadership team.
o Co-Chair of Neighbors’ Development Board Subcommittee.
o Presents development updates at the Board of Directors meetings.
Individual, Planned Giving and Local Business:
o Ability to steward Neighbors’ strong individual and local business support.
o Develop and follow annual strategies for all stages of the donor cycle.
o Develop and implement a planned giving strategy.
o In collaboration with the Development Associate, sustain processes and procedures for recording all donor communications & acknowledgments.
Grants: Foundation and Government
o Significantly expand support with grants as a development strategy.
o Work with the development team to project manage the submission of grant proposals, taking the lead on 60%+ of Neighbors’ grant submissions.
Events and Marketing/Communications:
o Together with the development team, maintain a comprehensive events and marketing/communications strategy.
o Oversee the design of newsletters, annual reports, brochures, etc.
o Oversee and support the development team to execute 3-5 annual events.
Development Department and Supervisory:
o Maintain development policies and procedures.
o Onboard, train and evaluate assigned staff.
o Oversee donor information in designated database (i.e. Salesforce).
Job Qualifications:
Minimum:
o 3 to 5 years of progressive development experience including individual and planned giving, grant writing and marketing/communications.
o Bachelor’s degree
o A demonstrably equivalent combination of experience and education.
Preferred:
o Proven familiarity with local and surrounding community.
o Experience with event planning.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong ability to develop and maintain relationships with donors.
Superb written and verbal communication skills.
Proven experience with grant writing, management and grant portals.
Knowledge of philanthropic landscape and strategies.
Salesforce or other database experience for fundraising purposes.
