About the role:

Gartner Analysts are industry thought leaders who  create must-have research, market predictions and best practices for a broad range of world-leading organizations. This expert dives deep into research and analysis to help clients solve problems and improve their company’s performance.

This Analyst will join the Gartner for Technical Professionals (GTP) team, a highly collaborative group of technology industry analysts advising Gartner clients who are Technical Professionals in commercial enterprises, government, and not-for-profit organizations. 

This expert is a trusted source of advice on Desktop Virtualization and Device Management topics for clients, reinforcing Gartner’s value every day by engaging clients via virtual meetings, sales support visits and events to discuss complex client challenges and offer actionable recommendations. 

This expert will also work with the GTP team and our internal research team to produce written thought leadership to address the most challenging industry topics in Desktop Virtualization and Device Management

What you will do: 

  • Create high quality, clear, actionable, “must-have research” content

  • Research, analyze and predict market trends and shifts and provide clients, including vendors, with actionable insights based on market research and positioning

  • Conduct research and analysis supporting key initiatives

  • Develop and provide expertise to guide clients to the best actions for them and their organizations

  • Apply critical thinking skills to de-construct and frame challenging client questions 

  • Provide clients and prospects with actionable advice aligned to their designated content area via virtual or face-to-face interactions 

  • Proactively support Advisory, Research Engagement Services (RES), Sales and Service and other internal stakeholders across relevant research key initiatives

  • Create and deliver presentation materials for Gartner events, industry and professional association conferences, and client briefings 

  • Provide high quality and timely research content peer review

  • Actively participate in innovation, ideation and research efforts to discuss research issues; Collaborate effectively with peers in the research community 

What you will need: 

  • 8+ years of relevant industry experience in Desktop Virtualization and/or Device Management architecture. 

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience

  • Expertise in three or more of the following technical areas:  

  • Implementing and managing VDI and/or DaaS products, application publication, and/or application layering technologies from key vendors including Citrix, Microsoft (AVD and Windows 365), and VMware.  

  • Unified endpoint management (UEM) implementation, configuration, and automation. Cloud-based implementations of one or more major vendor offerings including Microsoft Intune, VMware Workspace One, and JAMF.  

  • Modern configuration and management of major end-user operating systems (Windows, macOS, Android, iOS), including low touch provisioning, automated configuration, intimate knowledge on data isolation and device/application management techniques (MAM/MDM), browser integration, and operating system limitations.  

  • Identity and access management integration with UEM, defining end-user policies, patch management, scripting, and/or other supporting technologies for endpoints.  

  • Traditional Windows management approaches through Active Directory, Group Policy, and Client Management Tools including SCCM. 

Other experience you will need: 

  • ​Strong written and verbal proficiency, ability to engage clients and respond effectively to questions

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to apply conceptual models, recognizing patterns while drawing and defending conclusions

  • Strong presentation skills for both large and small-scale speaking engagements 

  • Ability to work independently, while also being motivated to collaborate across teams, in a multicultural global team

  • Strong organizational skills; ability to work under deadlines and produce high quality deliverables

  • Strong business acumen 

  • Executive presence; can immediately establish credibility with executives and additional stakeholders 

  • Willingness and foundation ability to mentor and coach others

  • Flexible thinker adept at change and navigating matrixed environments

  • Willingness and ability to travel to Gartner Conferences 2-3x per year

Gartner believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is 105,000 USD - 140,000 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, uncapped sales incentive plan. Our talent acquisition team will provide the specific opportunity on our bonus or incentive programs to eligible candidates.
