Job Title- Deskside Support
Location-Westbury, NY
Roles and Responsibilities
• Real-time handling the performance issues and outages on systems, applications, databases, and network appliances on B&N Infrastructure including production, development, and disaster recovery (DR) environments using various tools like Splunk, Nagios, RightITnow ECM, Grafana, ExtraHop, Notifier, and RRD
• System operations on IBM Iseries AS400 subsystems, MIMIX replication software & Robot job scheduler, KNIGHTED web application, and backup tape library management.
• Execute job schedule definitions and automation scripts in CA Workload Automation (Autosys) environment for various B&N Infrastructure projects.
• Production code deployment using Serena PVCS version control management tool.
• Accomplishing production activities using JENKINS tools to execute jobs.
• ServiceNow tool for incident management process by bringing and collaborating with the support teams to get faster resolution and resolve incidents to ensure the highest possible quality of service.
• Network traffic shift using load balancing application (F5 Network) between multiple datacenters and provide data center hands and feet support for hardware issues.
• Create, update, and modify troubleshooting steps in a knowledge base articles on the Confluence wiki application
• Prepare status reports, reign system, and applications health status communications through regular updates with applicable stakeholde
Required Qualification
- 1+ years of experience in a Linux/Unix environment as a system/network administrator or engineer with Linux/unix knowledge sufficient to identify and interrogate system hardware, review system logs, report on file systems, and manipulate files
- Must be self-motivated, organized, detail-oriented, and a team player.
- Must possess strong problem-solving skills and multitasking abilities
- Excellent interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication expertise, and a natural ability to liaise with customers and all management levels is needed.
The ability to perform physical activities including walking, lifting, and climbing a ladder
Hourly Rate and Other Compensation:
The hourly rate for this position is between $25.00 - 32.00 per hour, depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
