The Desk Attendant position is primarily designed to cover desk needs for the Intensive Tobacco Treatment Program, which is offered periodically (8+ times per year) for one week time periods. The Desk Attendant is expected to be available for a minimum of 3 shifts per program and to work collaboratively with the other desk staff to see that all shifts are covered. Shifts include Sundays, evenings, and nights. Responsibilities for the Desk Attendant include setting up for the upcoming program, stocking refrigerator and shelves, light housekeeping, greeting patients and reviewing patient schedules with them, provide direction to assist that patients find their appointment location, answer questions, remind patient of program expectations as needed, provide an open, judge-free environment for staff and patients, answer phones, helping with patient requests, talking with patients, communication with the office and counseling staff about patient issues and questions, and calling appropriate persons in case of emergencies. Desk staff are expected to complete some office support activities such as assembling packets and mailings. The Desk Attendant does not offer nursing or counseling services.
