Job Description
General Overview:
We are looking for an energetic Designer with manufacturing knowledge in the industrial and architectural markets. The Designer will provide world class customer service to our internal and external customers. With the title, Designer, you will be working under the direction of the Director of IAC Acoustics and will be responsible for delivery of design/build project, work, from conceptual design through drawing completion.
This position will be based out of Naperville, IL.
Responsibilities:
- Design plans using computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) software.
- Work from rough sketches and specifications created by engineers and customers.
- Help design products with engineering and manufacturing techniques.
- Prepare multiple versions of designs for review by engineers and customers.
- Specify dimensions, materials, and procedures for new products.
- Work under the supervision of engineers or architects.
- Prepare detailed construction and fabrication drawings for wide range of acoustical products for the Architectural and Industrial markets including broadcast studios, industrial enclosures, medical rooms, product test chambers, HVAC plenums, barrier walls, etc.
- Must be able to grasp design and assembly concepts in order to prepare complete piece-part Bills of Materials for entire acoustical products and facilities.
- Experience in Autodesk Mechanical (Solidworks is a plus)
- Knowledge of manufacturing procedures (Machining, Welding, Etc.)
- Design, organize and implement new equipment from initial concept to manufacturing.
- Ordering of materials and supplies related to equipment layout.
- Preparing cut sheets and procedure sheets for the factory.
- Professional coordination direct with customers and representatives is required.
Educational/Experience Requirements:
- Bacherlor’s degree in Engineering a plus.
- Experience working in a manufacturing or fabrication company.
- Knowledge with ERP systems such as Visual, JDE, or SAP, Microsoft Word and Excel
- Demonstrated organizational and time management skills, proven ability to consistently meet or exceed deadline expectations.
- Comfortable in the dynamic atmosphere of technical organization with a rapidly expanding customer base.
- Excellent technical aptitude, analytical and detail oriented. Technical ability to learn a diverse product line.
