Designer/Drafter - Houston, TX

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Designer/Drafter to join our team in our Houston, TX office. Westwood has a highly experienced and dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients. This team member will be performing plan production for civil engineering projects for our Transportation and Public Infrastructure.
- Utilizes computer aided drafting, design software and various other computer software packages to assist in the preparation of construction details, design plans, reports, and meeting exhibits.
- Transfers information in numerical, written and sketched, or electronic format from engineering markups and computer files to final plans and maps.
- Visualizes and illustrates concept or designs in 2 or 3 dimensions.
- Performs tasks under close supervision or from detail procedures.
- Proficient in specialized civil design applications for AutoCAD and/or MicroStation software.
- Proficient in other widely used computer applications (i.e., Microsoft Office).
- Basic knowledge of computer file directories and use.
- Knowledge of TxDOT and standard civil construction plans, details, and related documents,
- Fundamental understanding of a variety of basic civil engineering principles and design procedures including but not limited to drainage, pipe hydraulics, storm water detention, roadway and pavement layout grading, earthwork computations, water and wastewater systems, storm water pollution prevention, etc.
- Able to assist in the preparation of construction quantity and cost estimates.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a CAD Technician (or equivalent).
- High School graduate or GED
