About the Opportunity
The Designer/Assistant Project Manager (D/APM) will require a broad set of skills within the realm of project delivery from planning, design, construction, and project completion. The D/APM will work with the Designer/Project Manager (D/PM) on projects to identify client needs, document existing conditions, and coordinate daily work as it relates to the overall project timeline.
The In-House Design & Construction Group works on projects for all the University's colleges, departments, and divisions across the Global Network, including but not limited to student lounges, dorms, dining halls, classrooms, library spaces, and office fit-outs. All projects have a D/PM and D/APM assigned to ensure collaboration and quality control.

Design Duties
- Existing site condition surveys and CAD/BIM documentation
- Design development from schematic through construction documents
- Coordinate art, plants, and graphics
- Specify paint, flooring, lighting, and all associated finishes and furniture
- Event planning and diagramming
- Coordinate drawings with MEP engineers
- Coordinate with product/furniture vendors
Project Management Duties
- Assist with project scheduling, cost tracking, and reporting via the university's web-based project management tool, eBuilder
- Work with contractors and consultants to provide pertinent information/drawings
- Attend construction update meetings
- Prepare and update meeting minutes
- Coordinate with in-house trades (Carpentry, Transportation, Sign Shop, etc.)
- Act as the general contractor on smaller projects, coordinate construction schedule and subconsultants/subcontractors, monitor construction activity in the field
- Work for all the University's colleges, departments, and divisions across the Global Network
Skills/Qualifications
- Software: AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketchup
- Knowledge and skills normally acquired through the completion of a Bachelor's degree (architecture, interior design, industrial design, construction management, etc.)
- 2+ years in architecture, interior design, or construction management
- Ability to read and interpret architectural documents
- Self-motivated problem solver with the ability to work independently on difficult and complex tasks while making sound decisions
