We are seeking an experienced Design Engineer with a strong background in mechanical design and proficiency in Solidworks to join our growing team. The role will provide design support for both core products, as well as custom engineered equipment. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably with custom industrial equipment, and possess excellent communication and problem solving skills. This position offers the opportunity to work in a team environment, contribute to innovative projects, and play a key role in the continuous improvement of our product offerings.
Job Duties
Sustaining Product Support:
- Review and analyze engineering change requests to assess their impact on standard products.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement approved changes effectively.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Create and maintain accurate documentation related to ECOs.
- Support current product and Service Team on product changes, component re-design and part/component obsolescence, which may drive alternative solutions.
Custom Project Support:
- Under the direction of the Project Engineer, develop engineering concepts to meet
- custom system applications.
- Utilize SolidWorks to create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and engineering
- drawings.
- Design and specify materials and components to ensure they meet application
- performance requirements.
- Perform tolerance analysis and develop solutions for complex design challenges.
- Prototype and test custom designs as needed, iterating to achieve optimal results.
Design Support:
- Provide technical guidance and support to cross-functional teams during the
- product development process.
- Assist in troubleshooting design-related issues and recommend solutions.
- Participate in design reviews and contribute innovative ideas to improve product
- performance.
- Ensure that all design and engineering changes adhere to quality standards, safety
- guidelines, and industry best practices.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of design standards and procedures
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field or 5+ years’ experience in a similar role.
- Proven experience as a Design Engineer for industrial equipment and custom projects.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar 3D modeling software.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing
- processes.
- Familiarity with engineering change order processes.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
- Detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Thermal spray knowledge a plus.
