Job Description
The Purpose of the Design Engineer I is to be directly responsible for project Bills of Material, preparing
construction drawing sets & technical support. The position will execute this purpose by directly supporting
the mission and values of Stuppy, being guided in their decision making and behaviors toward achieving the
common goals of the organization.
Essential Functions
Review sales orders, quotations, and product requests to determine design requirements.
Coordinate creation of drawings and bills of material with drafters and technical services associates
Interpret construction drawings and communicate clearly with customers and company associates.
Answer technical support and customer questions or problems related to construction.
Maintain database information on drawings sent to customers.
Travel to customer sites to inspect and assist in the construction of greenhouses.
Partner with Engineering team on the maintenance and documentation of construction procedures
and best practices.
Assist sales with gathering information and answering questions on quotes and bids.
Keep up to date on new Stuppy and industry products, ideas, and construction techniques and
concepts.
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering required.
2-5 years’ experience working in a design and structural engineering role.
Experience in construction, engineering, drafting, or similar field is a plus.
Proficient AutoDesk AutoCAD 2D abilities
Ability to make mathematical calculations, including division, multiplication, fractions, trigonometry,
and geometry.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervisor intervention.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to streamline processes for maximum effectiveness.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills and able to work effectively with
associates at all levels of the organization.
Advanced skills in navigating the Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel, Outlook, and Power Point.

Standard office and/or manufacturing environment. Ability to perform continuous physical effort (up to eight (8) hours) including frequent walking, standing, and lifting. While performing the duties of the position, the employee is constantly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms with medium work that includes moving objects up to 50 lbs. They may be frequently exposed to loud noises and bright light. Vision perception is normal for administrative duties.
