Design Engineer

Dorsey has an opening for a Design Engineer in Elba, Alabama.

Responsibilities:

· Review and design orders to satisfy customer specifications.

· Communicate with outside suppliers and intra-company departments

· Performs other duties as required by manager to keep pace with changes in scope of work (additional duties may be required as requested by manager).

· Develop and prepare Bill of Materials and download into the “ERP” system

· Prepare full detailed working drawings.

· Prepare design concepts, sales sketches, and solid models for customer approval.

· Be familiar with or have the capability to interpret industry standards and codes.

· Consult and interact with sales team in order to clarify or resolve problems.

· Research to assist in your development and understanding of trucks, trailers, loading, suspensions, alternate materials, etc.

· Provides technical assistance to the shop floor and support to other departments

Skills:

·Demonstrated problem solving skills using engineering practices.

· Broad knowledge of engineering principles, practices, and procedures.

· Excellent English communication skills, both oral and written. (Fluent in Spanish is a plus)

· Strong Microsoft Office software abilities.

· Have solid multitasking skills and the ability to meet demanding schedules.

· Able to work independently without direct supervision.

· Able to perform in a team environment.

Education & Experience:

· Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a similar field. (preferred not required)

· 3 to 5 years of industry experience (Experience with trailer design would be an asset)

· 1 to 3 years' experience in 3D CAD Modeling with large assemblies using SolidWorks.
