Design Drafter/Detailer

Summary

Create and provide detailed CAD models and drawings to support the manufacturing team that meet the requirements as set forth by the customer, internal detailing/drafting standards, and other related information.

Essential Functions

• Using SolidWorks, create 3D models and 2D drawings from customer's 2D drawings as required for production.
• Learn and apply customer product requirements/standards.
• Prepare shop drawings and manufacturing specifications required for internal and external production needs.
• Work with Project Managers (PMs) to submit RFIs as needed.
• Review drawings and models for errors or potential problems that can affect the project prior to sending the job out for production.
• After model/drawings have been checked, send files/drawings to the PM to coordinate production.
• Provide manufacturing team with additional information as needed.
• Other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

• 3 years of related work experience required; 2 or 4 year degree in drafting, engineering or related field preferred
• Proficient in SolidWorks
• High attention to detail
• Able to complete work in a timely manner to meet rigid deadlines

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and understand design specifications
• Knowledge of industry related software including Microsoft office suite and SolidWorks
• Knowledge of steel fabrication procedures and detailing standards
• Must have excellent written and oral communication skills and positive interpersonal skills
