Provides professional and courteous assistance to taxpayers and the public in an effective, efficient, and productive manner while collecting and processing tax payments and fees. Participates in planning of programs, policies, or objectives for own work group and department.
- Accepts and processes transactions for various types of taxes, including motor vehicle and property tax payments; sets up and monitors payment plan agreements.
- Assists taxpayers and the public by responding to questions, or directing them to the proper person.
- Collects payments and fees, submits payments, and makes changes. Balances and inputs daily transactions. Assist Internal Auditors.
- Maintains knowledge of current laws and regulations relating to motor vehicles, and sales tax laws and procedures.
- Files customer records, including any supporting documentation and information from other agencies. Prepares transaction reports, as needed, for the State.
- Tracks and ensures the security of State accountable items, and is held personally accountable for shortages.
- Assists other employees with more complicated transactions; Trains new employees.
- Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED; Clerical Skills Test and Calculator test is required.
