Position Overview:
This is a newly created position for a highly motivated, energetic person with strong entrepreneurial skills who enjoys creating new business and enhancing existing programs. This person will drive new opportunities, and carefully monitor the progress towards those efforts.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Director of Business Development and Innovation will leverage The Arc’s extremely well-known and trusted brand to identify new programs/markets and expand existing business. As a self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset, you will acquire new business for the agency. This position is of a highly professional level, requiring demonstrated successful experience in sales and business development. The position will report to the Chief Executive Officer, and has no direct reports.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identifies, forecasts, and acquires new growth opportunities while leveraging The Arc’s current business in Prince George’s County.
- Identifies new technology and approaches to provide services, driving process, and quality improvements.
- Pursues new business based on information and leads obtained from local contacts, existing businesses as well as corporate headquarters, trade shows, outside sales, and other avenues.
- Identifies and connects employment partners that fit with the job interest of people we support.
- Survey business partners including employment partners to determine feedback and identify new opportunities.
- Connects The Arc with partners to expand community access for people with disabilities.
- Engage with elected leaders and key business leaders to understand the business climate and identify where there is bourgeoning business opportunity.
- Utilizes current, or develops new relationships to form strategic partnerships that open new opportunities and/or new markets.
- Interacts with and coordinates activities with Arc executives and programmatic managers to a develop strategies, positions, and products for new opportunities.
- Monitors new business opportunities and grants (RFPs).
- Works with assigned personnel to deliver proposals and grants.
- Functions as the primary key contact for all new business.
- Develops intimate knowledge of the internal operations and requirements of all programs.
- Manages all aspects of the new business and new grants process.
- Evaluate merger and acquisition opportunities.
- Build the case and pull together partners for business opportunities.
- Design organizational infrastructure and set up internal operations and support for new business.
- Responsible for maintaining and achieving margin goals.
- All other duties as assigned.

Requirements:Must-have Qualifications:
- BA/ BS in Business Administration, Marketing, etc. required
- 5+ years in related business development required
- Exceptional organization and interpersonal skills
- Strong consultative sales skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite
- The ability to navigate the sales process and act as a trusted advisor to motivate sales and close business
