Job Duties
The Deputy Clerk (Grade 8) is assigned work under the direction of a Supervising Deputy Clerk and ultimately reports to the Clerk of Court. The Deputy Clerk is assigned operational responsibilities in a high-volume, fast-paced office with frequent deadlines. This position ensures the court’s instructions are executed and legal documents are prepared with accuracy and in accordance with state and local policies while providing courteous and professional customer service support.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities – Duties include but are not limited to preparing and issuing various legal papers, forms, orders, and correspondence, entering and updating data into the automated case management system, scanning documents, filing court documents, assessing and receipting fines and costs, providing customer service support to the public, attorneys, and other court users, and fulfilling other duties as required to ensure that court instructions are executed and prepared with accuracy and in accordance with appropriate policies, judicial instructions, and/ or statutory regulations. Additional duties may include assisting the judge during court dockets, preparing dockets, and scheduling court hearings.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required. Qualified applicants must be able to meet frequent deadlines, be detail-oriented and organized, be able to work independently as well as part of a team, manage changing priorities, and be committed to providing excellent customer service to the public and interfacing agencies.
Additional Considerations
Most competitive applicants will have some court, office, or customer service experience or a degree in a legal-related field.
