SUMMARY:
Record all legal county documents, deeds, deeds of trust, marriage applications and licenses, probate administration, judgments, birth, and death certificates etc. We also conduct the county elections and are responsible for the county bookkeeping.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The employee will spend 90% of time in a seated position inside a secure, climate-controlled building. The ability to lift carry or move objects up to 25 pounds.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain knowledge of current or updated policies and procedures.
- Interact and work with the public in a polite, courteous, and professional manner.
- Ability to read, interpret, and follow instructions in memos, letters, and various legal documents.
- Perform general office duties.
- May assist other departments as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
TECHNICAL SKILLS, GENERAL ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to function & communicate clearly under pressure and time constraints.
- Strong computer skills.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills.
- Must be flexible and able to adjust to change.
- Ability to communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively with other employees & the public and follow instructions from supervisors.
- Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate person(s).
- 3+ years of computer and office experience.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift, carry, or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
EXPERIENCE:
- Operation of Microsoft Office Software is essential.
- Previous experience in a similar Clerk role is a plus.
- Overtime is required during the elections.
EDUCATION:
- High School Diploma or GED.
LICENSE:
- Valid Driver's License.
