Job Description
EGLE's Drinking Water and Environmental Health Division (DWEHD) is seeking a Limited Term Business Area focused Software Tester to work diligently to detect and report any issues with our software programs, apps, and websites. In this role, you will conduct user acceptance, Quality Assurance, and other types of testing throughout a project's lifecycle, examining our products much like an end-user would and reporting any bugs to the development teams. Our ideal candidate will have a sharp eye for detail, plus excellent communication, reporting, and troubleshooting skills.
The position will perform test cases, review outcomes, and provide feedback, while ensuring system requirements are accurately met. The Limited Term status is based upon current funding with two one-year options. This position is being filled as a limited term assignment (up to 2 years) with the potential to become permanent, but there is no guarantee.
The work location of this position will be either the Lansing, Jackson, Cadillac, Bay City, Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Warren, Gaylord, or Marquette District Office, OR Lansing Central Office, depending on the selected candidate.However, the selected candidate may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule (combination of remote and in-person) or a fully remote work schedule (with occasional travel to their official work location). Employees approved for schedules that include remote work must complete that work within Michigan. Relocation expenses are not reimbursed. When working remote, employees must use a designated workspace that is safe and professionally appropriate, allows for privacy, minimizes distractions, and includes secure internet access. Details regarding work location and schedule options for this position may be discussed during the interview process.

One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 7-level in state service.
Departmental Technician 8
One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 8-level in state service.
OR
One year of experience as a technician or paraprofessional equivalent to the entry level in state service.
Departmental Technician E9
One year of experience as a supervisor of administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service.
OR
One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service.
OR
Two years of experience as a technician or paraprofessional, including one year of experience equivalent to the intermediate level in state service.

Departmental Technician (Trainee) 7: Two years of experience in a 7 level or higher non-administrative support ECP Group One classification.

One year of experience as a first-line supervisor in an ECP Group Three classification.
Departmental Technician 7: Completion of two years of college (60 semester or 90 term credits) may be substituted for the experience requirement.
Departmental Technician 8: Possession of a Bachelor's degree may be substituted for the experience requirement.
Departmental Technician E9: Possession of a Bachelor's degree and one year of job-related experience may be substituted for the experience requirement.

Vacation and Sick Leave: Eligible full-time employees receive between 15 and 35 personal days and 13 sick days per year that may be rolled over to the following year if not used. Eligible employees also receive an additional day each year for community service or school functions.
Paid Parental Leave: Eligible employees can take 12 weeks of paid leave immediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.
Paid Holidays: Eligible employees receive 13 or 14 paid holidays each year including New Year's Eve and Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents' Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Election Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving Friday, Christmas Eve and Day.
Bonus Programs: Eligible employees with five years of service also receive annual longevity bonuses that grow as seniority increases. Some positions also may qualify for recruitment, retention, and performance bonuses or other special pay premiums.
Military Pay Differential: Employees in the guard or reserves may also qualify for supplemental pay benefits if miliary pay during qualifying duty is less than normal state pay.
