**35824BR****Extended Job Title:Dental Patient Services Specialist (Oral Health Clinic/Alberta)Org Level 1:Texas Tech Unv Hlth Sci Ctr El PasoPosition Description:**This position is responsible for assuring smooth operation of the clinic patient flow. Employees serve as primary contacts for patients and are responsible for scheduling appointments, preparing necessary paperwork before the patient visits, receiving patients, and maintaining records. In addition, this position is responsible for processing charges for clinic services, filing insurance claims, responding to requests for information from patients and insurance companies and maintaining related information for the department.

Employees may have cash handling responsibilities.Requisition ID:35824BROptional Attachments:TranscriptTravel Required:Up to 25%Major/Essential Functions:+ Registers/schedules patient appointments for office visits accurately/efficiently in EMR and billing system+ Responsible for assuring smooth operation of clinic patient flow/Serves as primary contact for patients+ Provides 100% accuracy on patient registration/demographics/financial updates. All patients registered promptly/efficiently. All patients addressed professionally/courteously.

Enters patient information in EMR /billing system. Responsible for obtaining required signatures at time of registration/scanning all information into EMR. No more than 1 administrative/customer service/peer related complaint biannually+ Receives incoming calls/All calls answered before 3rd ring/All calls addressed professionally/courteously.

100% proper and ethical telephone skills when scheduling appointments and/or directing/providing necessary information needed+ Verifies/updates managed care plan and/or insurance information into patient account. 100% accuracy on retrieving patient accounts, verifies/updates financial and/or demographic information needed for billing. Inputs financial/general comments in system.

Updates financial status classification (FSC) in system. Scans copies of managed care and/or insurance information at time of visit and/or prior to office visit. Responsible for obtaining required signatures at time of registration/scanning all information into accurate file folder in EMR+ Scans accurately all necessary paperwork s/patient information into correct file folder in EHR.

Responsible for accurately obtaining signatures on forms/scanning pertinent patient information into accurate folder in the EMR and confirm registration is complete.+ Cashier/prepare daily deposits. Responsible for collecting patients co-payments/payment for services rendered and/or outstanding balances. Able to process all insurance claims.

All patients addressed professionally/courteously. 100% accuracy in cashiering, collects co-payments, payment on services rendered and/or outstanding balances. Accurately prepares/reconciles daily deposit as per policy+ Arrives and No-Shows appointments daily and after each clinic session for end of the month statistical departmental report.

100% accuracy and daily input after each clinic session of arrival and no-show appointments+ Excellent time management organizational skills+ Trains existing and/or new employees in registration/processing of patients or in any other job related duties+ Provides cross-training to staff within different clinic areas. Supports 100% of Service Plus Philosophy of Texas Tech. Exhibit excellent/professional/ethical characteristics 100% of the time.

Good interpersonal/interprofessional skills. Handles cross training effectively without interrupting flow of clinic. Interacts professionally/efficiently.

Be versatile/flexible/adaptable. No more than 1 administrative/customer service/peer related complaint biannually+ Verifies/updates/optimizes patient schedule daily. Verifies prior scheduled appointment/reviews chart for completeness.

Optimizes student/faculty schedules for filled appointment times/procedures. Follow guidelines on informing/providing patient portal information as needed+ Additional duties as directed by supervisor. Flexibility/adaptability to accept/perform other duties assigned by supervisor.

Eager to assist in new and/or different challenges or projects at once. Cross train within different areas/assist with rotations. Supports 100% the Service Plus Philosophy of Texas Tech.
