Dental Hygienist

Key Responsibilities:

• Patient Assessment:
• Conduct thorough oral assessments, including reviewing medical and dental histories, taking blood pressure, and examining the oral cavity for signs of diseases or abnormalities.
• Dental Cleanings:
• Perform professional dental cleanings, including scaling and root planing to remove plaque, tartar, and stains from teeth.
• Administer fluoride treatments and apply dental sealants for preventive care.
• Periodontal Therapy:
• Assist in the treatment of gum disease by providing non-surgical periodontal therapy, such as deep cleanings (scaling and root planing) and maintenance care.
• X-rays:
• Take dental radiographs (X-rays) and interpret them for diagnostic purposes.
• Patient Education:
• Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, diet, and lifestyle choices that affect oral health.
• Create customized home care plans for patients to maintain good oral health.
• Treatment Planning:
• Collaborate with the dentist to develop treatment plans for patients based on their oral health needs.
• Provide input on preventive and therapeutic treatments.
• Documentation:
• Maintain detailed patient records, including charting of dental conditions, treatments performed, and recommendations.

Qualifications:

• Graduation from an accredited dental hygiene program with an associate's or bachelor's degree.
• State licensure and certification as a Dental Hygienist.
• CPR certification
• Knowledge of dental anatomy, pathology, and oral health care procedures.
• Continuing education to stay up-to-date with current best practices and technologies.

Skills:

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with patients and dental team members.
• Attention to detail and strong hand-eye coordination.
• Proficiency in using dental software for patient record-keeping.
• Empathy and the ability to make patients feel comfortable during procedures.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $45.00 - $55.00 per hour

Expected hours: 16 – 32 per week
