Position Registered Dental Hygienist

Reports to: Hygiene Liaison
ROLE
Performs the usual and customary procedures of a Registered Dental Hygienist while promoting a safe environment of minimal stress. In addition to oral procedures, employees must maintain an aseptic work area, be organized and self-motivated, coordinate patient flow with front and back offices, educate staff on dental hygiene and other related issues whenever possible.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Accurately maintains patient records and charts to ensure easy retrieval and complete documentation of all patient treatment and transactions.
- Participates fully in staff development through morning huddles, staff meetings, continuing education courses, and evaluations.
- Promotes team cohesiveness by interacting with team members using common courtesy, active listening skills, respect, and non-judgmental attitude.
- Consistently and accurately reviews and documents any changes in each patient’s dental and medical history at each visit.
- Consistently, accurately, and timely recognizes the contraindications of dental treatment in general and/or contraindications to the specific procedures planned for an appointment.
- Consistently and thoroughly examines oral tissues and accurately records clinical findings in each patient’s chart.
- Accurately and consistently identifies and documents in the patient’s chart any teeth and/or existing restorations that show visible decay, faulty margins, or are causing pain to the patient.
- Routinely and accurately measures and records accurate pocket depth measurements in the patient’s chart at least once a year.
- Clearly, kindly, and professionally communicates with the patients and demonstrates a high degree of sensitivity to all patient concerns to ensure patient comfort and confidence with the hygienist.
- Provides each patient with a clear and concise explanation of all dental hygiene procedures necessary for the patient’s individual treatment, including subsequent periodontal checks and future recall appointments.
- Provides a complete and clear explanation of oral hygiene techniques needed in home care to support dental hygiene treatment received in the office.
- Consistently and accurately informs each patient about treatment and oral hygiene in a positive manner in an effort to ensure patient motivation toward optimum oral health.
- Proficient in the delivery of Nitrous Oxide sedation, therefore ensuring the patient receives the anesthesia in a safe and comfortable manner.
- Accurately and consistently performs scaling, root planing, laser therapy in a gentle manner, therefore maintaining minimal patient discomfort during dental hygiene procedures.
- Thoroughly and proficiently documents intended dental hygiene procedures to be performed including the type of treatment and subsequent appointments(recall) needed.
- When needed, properly schedule and/or plan the patient for their next appointment(s) for doctor treatment.
- Accurately and completely records treatment in the patient’s chart at each visit in the appropriate space provided. Provides initials for yourself and the reporting doctor.
- Consistently maintains a safe, pleasant, and comfortable environment overall for the patient.
- Properly maintains equipment, instruments, and supplies to ensure safety, asepsis, and OSHA and CDC guidelines.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55.00 - $60.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 32 per week
