Smile Country Dental in Santa Rosa is seeking a skilled and dedicated Dental Assistant to join our team. As a Dental Assistant, you will work closely with the dentist to provide high-quality dental care to our patients. You will primarily assist in various dental procedures, perform administrative tasks, and ensure a comfortable and safe environment for patients.
Responsibilities
1. Assist the dentist during dental procedures by setting up instruments, equipment, and materials required for treatment.
2. Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and equipment following established protocols and infection control guidelines.
3. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) as instructed by the dentist, ensuring patient safety and quality images.
4. Perform basic dental procedures under the supervision of the dentist, including taking impressions, applying sealants, placing dental dams, and preparing materials for temporary crowns.
5. Provide chairside assistance to the dentist during dental procedures, anticipating the dentist's needs and ensuring efficient workflow.
6. Educate patients on oral hygiene techniques, post-treatment care, and preventive measures to maintain optimal oral health.
7. Ensure patient comfort by consistently practicing a compassionate and friendly approach, addressing their concerns, and providing reassurance throughout their dental visits.
8. Maintain and update patient records in the electronic health records system, accurately documenting treatments performed, treatment plans, and other relevant information.
9. Schedule patient appointments and manage the dental office's appointment calendar, optimizing efficiency and minimizing waiting time for patients.
10. Assist with front office duties, including answering phones, greeting patients, managing paperwork, and processing insurance claims.
11. Adhere to all safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards to maintain a sterile and hazard-free environment.
12. Stay updated with the latest advancements in dental technology, procedures, and materials, actively participating in professional development activities to enhance skills and knowledge.
Requirements
1. High school diploma or equivalent qualification; completion of a Dental Assistant training program is preferred.
2. Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) certification is a plus.
3. Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or relevant position in a dental clinic or office.
4. Demonstrated knowledge of dental instruments and equipment, as well as dental procedures and terminology.
5. Basic understanding of dental radiography and X-ray processing techniques.
6. Exceptional attention to detail, maintaining accuracy and precision in all tasks performed.
7. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to establish rapport with patients and effectively communicate complex dental information.
8. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, able to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
9. Proficient in using dental software and electronic health records systems.
10. Familiarity with infection control protocols and occupational health and safety standards.
