Summary
The .8 FTE Dental Assistant will assist in pediatric dental chairside procedures using 4-handed dentistry, take dental and oral maxilla medical images, take vitals, room patients and other patient care tasks as needed under the direction of a dentist, physician or licensed health care provider.

Responsibilities*
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- assist in pediatric dental chairside procedures using 4-handed dentistry
- take dental and oral maxilla medical images
- room patients, take vitals, update the medical record and other patient care tasks as needed.
- process contaminated instruments, set up and tear down procedures
- obtain verbal consents as needed
- understand the complexities of working with medically and physically compromised pediatric population
- coordinate and monitor dental/medical inventory, medications, instruments, and supplies.
- thoroughly disinfect all work areas and stations according to policies.
- assure compliance in all work areas
- maintain online education and annual competencies.
- manage compliant cleaning of water lines according to manufacturers written process.
- collaborate with team to ensure effective workflow of operations.
- promote and facilitate positive communication with the entire health care team
- maintaining Dental Assistant competencies and responsibilities
- Partners with other members of the inter-professional team to ensure smooth clinic operations.
- Maintains a clean and safe working environment.
- Supports routine clinic care functions, including patient intake, discharge, and care follow up.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties, as requested.
- Participates in regulatory readiness activities and quality improvement projects, as needed.
Required Qualifications*
- Dental imaging certification required.
- Requires a certificate of completion from an accredited dental assisting program.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: 1-3 years experience in a clinic and/or hospital dental setting
- Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers
- Ability to take vital signs
- Ability to multi-task efficiently and effectively and take direction from multiple sources
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, families, medical/dental staff, and other inter-professional partners
- Strong organizational and people skills
- Knowledge of examination, diagnostic and treatment room procedures
- Must be able to act calmly and effectively in a busy or stressful situation
- This position requires moderate standing/walking, as well as lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or transferring of patients

Work Schedule
Monday through Friday, day shift with variable start times.
