About this Opportunity:
The Youth Development Specialist (YDS) is responsible for ensuring youth receiving residential services are physically and emotionally safe while receiving support, empathy, feedback, and direction. YDS are responsible to provide effective and therapeutic responses to the challenging emotions and behaviors of the youth we serve. This will include but not be limited to areas of communication, cognition, health management, social networking, vocational, leisure time management, and community integration. As a youth developmental specialist, you will be working directly with individuals regarding their developmental and cognitive disabilities. The population we serve are between the ages of 11-17. Each youth will have an individualized treatment plan created by a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst. Youth are provided with weekly individual therapy, specialized group therapy or intensive activity-based therapy. Your role will be following the treatment plan created to assist the youth in accomplishing their goals. You will support the youth with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, toileting, eating, etc. Other job responsibilities include assisting with community outings, social interactions, and intentionally engaging our youth.

Our ideal candidate will have experience in working with children and youth with emotional and behavioral challenges, developmental disabilities, and cognitive impairments is strongly preferred. A high school diploma is required, higher education in psychology, social work, sociology, youth and family studies or related field is preferred. You must have a positive acceptance of supervision in order to learn and be trained in job-related functions and the ability to work with a variety of people both within and outside the Agency. In addition, you must be able to promote a positive image for the Agency in the community and in relationship with other Agencies and their personnel. It is required to have a valid driver’s license, good driving record and adequate insurance with a reliable vehicle available at all times. This candidate must possess an understanding and/or willingness to learn the needs of diverse populations. Lastly, you must become familiar with and follow the code of ethics and agree to abide by the related Agency standards.
