Job Description
ISV is seeking a well-qualified DBA to support software development and testing.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Install and configure mainframe databases.
• Performing upgrades of the database and software to new release levels.
• Managing the database's storage structures.
• Managing users and security.
• Managing schema objects, such as tables, indexes, views, triggers, and procedures.
• Some writing of SQL queries to retrieve, manipulate, and analyze data.
• Ensure code efficiency, maintainability, and security.
• Making database backups and performing recovery when necessary.
• Responsible for database troubleshooting.
• Coordinating with appropriate teams to ensure operational effectiveness of databases and apply database, OS, and security patches.
• Perform all other related duties and projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• A baccalaureate degree, from an accredited college or high school diploma and a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience.
• Must have at least three years’ experience as an IBM dB2 Database Administrator (DBA) on version 11 or higher. Knowledge of IMS Database Administration is a plus.
• Experience with System administration, database installation, configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Knowledge and experience with DataVantage or Focus is a plus.
• Candidate should have good verbal and written communication skills as well as good technical “documentation” writing skills.
• Candidate should possess analytical and problem-solving skills, a sense of responsibility, and an ability to work well independently and in a team environment.
• Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with vendors.
• Strong project management skills in a team-oriented environment.
