Job Title: Assistant/Closer Daycare Teacher

POSITION SUMMARY:
To ensure the safety of the children attending the center, assist the lead teacher, and properly clean and close the classroom.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Supervise children at all times.
- Carry out any planned activities and assist the lead teacher in any ways needed (decorating the room, participating in planned activities, bulletin boards etc.)
- Open designated free play areas in the afternoon.
- Supervise bathroom breaks and outdoor play.
- Keep children’s hands and face clean, their shoes tied, and ready to go home when parents arrive.
- Greet parents and discuss the child’s day. Let the parents know if the child needs any items brought to school with them such as diapers, extra clothing, etc.
- Slowly shutdown areas of the classroom, having children pick up their toys (5:00- 5:30).
- Plan quiet or tabletop activities (puzzles, books, coloring, and games).
- Sanitize all tables with bleach solution (1/3tbs bleach to 1-quart water).
- Wipe off chairs and place them on tabletops.
- Sweep floors and take out trash
- Wash any cups or plates left from snack time for your room.
- Take any laundry to the laundry room.
- Turn off lights in all classrooms and Director’s office if you are the last to leave for the day.
- Make sure playground door is locked.
- Interact with the children.
- Redirect any negative/disruptive behavior and praise good behavior.
- Keep attendance sheets up-to-date.
- Fill out all necessary paperwork such as medication forms or incident reports.
- Properly wash hands.
- Attend monthly staff meetings and state required in-service training.
- Arrive to work at your scheduled time and in appropriate attire.
- Maintain a professional attitude with other staff and parents.
- Report to the director any suspected cases of child abuse or neglect.
- Perform any other duties required by lead teacher or Childcare Director
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to respond to emergency situations.
- CPR & First Aid Certified
- Maintain certifications
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $11.00 - $13.00 per hour
