POSITION SUMMARY

The Day Porter is responsible for cleaning and maintaining public areas in a Balance Gym location, allowing our members to have a clean, safe, and supportive fitness environment.

We are looking for a Day Porter for our Balance Gym Foggy Bottom location.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Clean the commodes, sinks, floors, and mirrors in bathrooms and keep entryways and hallways free of dirt and debris.
• Clean cardio and strength equipment.
• Empty trash throughout the facility and promptly clean up floor spills or wet spots created by inclement weather
• Keep towels, toilet tissue, and paper towels in stock.
• Accurately maintain cleaning chart indicating the time each area was visited and maintained.
• Alerts supervisor when problems occur.
• Other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Past work experience in commercial cleaning or janitorial work is strongly preferred.
• Skills in operating hand and electrical cleaning tools like dusters, brooms, mops and vacuum cleaners are required.
• A clear understanding of written and spoken English is necessary to read instructions and interact with employees and visitors.
• Must have attention to detail.
• Must be well organized and able to follow a routine that provides regular inspection and cleaning of assigned areas.
• Must be friendly, courteous and punctual.
• Most of the work requires standing or walking. Flexibility is important to effectively use the cleaning equipment.
• Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift at least 30 pounds of cleaning supplies, equipment, and buckets. Restacking weights is also a duty, but we expect the incumbent to request assistance of the weights that are too heavy to lift alone.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $17.10 per hour

Schedule:

• 4 hour shift
• Afternoon shift
• Evening shift
• Every weekend
• Monday to Friday
• Morning shift
• Weekends as needed
• Weekends only

Shift availability:

• Day Shift (Preferred)
• Night Shift (Preferred)
