JOB TITLE: Day Maintenance Technician

FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt
CONTRACT STATUS: Full-time/12-month contract

SUMMARY: Constructs and repairs structural woodwork and equipment in establishment by performing the following duties.

- Build, repair, and install counters, cabinets, benches, partitions, floors, doors, building framework, and trim.
- Maintain and care for school district's grounds.
- Prune trees and trim hedges.
- Mow lawn.
- Adjust and repair equipment.
- Shovel snow from sidewalks and driveways and spread ice melt, sand, and salt to prevent slipping.
- Repair playground equipment and benches district wide.
- Assemble and deliver furniture.
- Work inside during winter doing assigned custodian jobs and maintenance projects.
- Assists with special projects.
- All other duties as assigned by supervisor or director.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Two (2) years of general or related experience preferred
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: Computer literate; excellent written and oral communication ability. Ability to follow all district policies and procedures. Ability to work independently, displaying initiative and enthusiasm for the tasks being done. Demonstrating strong communication skills, orally and in writing, with faculty, staff, team members, and administrators. Ability to work without supervision, and work as a team player. Ability to document records accurately. Ability to manage confidential information in a manner that respects students, families, and employees. Ability to listen effectively.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret general written instructions in English language. Ability to effectively communicate with supervisor, school personnel, and co-workers.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to measure and calculate areas and circumference to accurately purchase needed supplies and materials for projects.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written and oral instructions. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
LICENSES and REGISTRATIONS: Current driver's license in good standing.
