This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Day Camp Site Director is responsible for furthering the mission of the camp through the planning and delivery of program activities and events. Day Camp Site Director designs and delivers program activities that are safe, fun, and appropriate to the camper's age and abilities. In addition, assists in the management of the overall camp operation at the direction of the branch director.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Supervises daily scheduling of camp staff, to include placement of substitutes for scheduled time off, absences and making any punch changes in Paycom.
- Ensures staff/child ratio is within limits at all times.
- Monitors staff/child ratio throughout program time which may require sending staff home as children numbers decrease.
- Actively engages children during all aspects of program to include comprehensive curriculum.
- Site Director is included in the staff/child ratio and may need to lead a small group of children, 15 or less.
- Positively ID unfamiliar individuals that are on list to pick up child.
- Introduce yourself to parents and learn their names being sure to address them by name when greeting during drop off or pick up times.
- Creates and implements curriculum and lessons plans.
- Engages in and supervises special activities.
- Immediately advises Program Director of any child/parent/staff problems and documents as required.
- Completes all required paperwork accurately and on time and submits to appropriate association staff.
- Records attendance and maintains parent sign-in/out records.
- Ensures site facility is maintained and ensures cleanliness of area daily (i.e. bathroom, activity area, storage closet, etc).
- Attends Camp staff meetings, training, and any mandatory meetings for The Family Y.
- Maintains certification in: CPR, First Aid, and Fire Safety.
- Consistently demonstrate positive communication.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED required or in process, some college preferred
- Experience working with children, preferably as a leader in a camp setting
- Experience teaching or advanced knowledge in a designated specialty camp activity area
- Experiences in administrative roles at similar camp
- CPR and First Aid certified, can be obtained

- Visual and auditory ability to observe and to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency situation.
- Ability to lead and interact in group activities and perform related physical skills.
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Ability to climb, push, and pull.
- Ability to lift and carry objects up to 20 pounds.
