The Scarsdale Schools' Technology department is seeking a talented, experienced, and highly motivated candidate for a Database Manager position. Under the supervision of the Data Services Manager, the successful candidate will be part of the Data Services team which provides support for all District-wide systems and databases. The Data Services team works closely with the Technical Services team as well as with computer teachers and aides to deliver technology solutions to parents, faculty, and staff.
Sarlary range: $86,911 - $122,419
The Database Manager's responsibilities include:
- Developing reports and system interfaces using SQL
- Developing data visualizations of student and staff data using Tableau
- Writing technical specifications and overseeing development performed by vendors
- Developing test plans and perform quality assurance of District and vendor technology solutions
- Managing software development and software implementation projects, including developing project plans and timelines, coordinating all personnel involved and tracking progress of all tasks, leading project meetings, and preparing minutes and status reports
- Analyzing system requirements and writing business, functional, and technical specifications
- Analyzing existing workflows and recommending workflow changes & system solutions
- Identifying training needs and training end users one-on-one and in class settings
- Documenting procedures and policies
- Preparing system diagrams and user guides
The following skills are required:
- Thorough knowledge of databases
- Advanced SQL
- Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong project management skills
- Strong organizational/time management skills and ability to effectively prioritize workload
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Must be a team player and have the ability to influence others without formal authority
- Must be able to manage projects independently
- Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills
- Self starter with ability to anticipate business needs and offer proactive recommendations
- Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills to interact effectively with all levels of stakeholders
- Knowledge of Infinite Campus and nVision preferred
- Knowledge of Tableau preferred
- Knowledge of Scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell) preferred
- Knowledge of public schools, their databases and systems preferred
