DEPARTMENT: Business Solutions

POSITION LOCATION: Indianapolis

POSITION SUMMARY:
We are seeking a candidate passionate about problem solving and technology. Having an interest in sports, live events, or motorsports will certainly add to job satisfaction, but is not required. The Business Solutions team supports and develops many high-profile websites and critical internal applications. Supporting so many applications has resulted in multiple opportunities for an intern to come in and make an impact. We are seeking one candidate, but that candidate could focus on database development and business intelligence or software and web development. All applicants need to be comfortable understanding business challenges and proposing solutions to those challenges. A genuine interest in technology and desire to continually learn more is required. This intern position is part of the College Program and is eligible for all relevant programming and experiences.
Database Development and Business Intelligence Track:
Work in coordination with multiple departments to improve currently available reporting/analytics tools. There will be opportunities to dig into our existing databases and data warehouses to enrich and create new insights. Qualified candidates will be skilled in SQL and capable of writing new complex queries and ETL processes. Categories of data include customer behavior, financials, sales history, and click stream activity. Expect to work with Power BI, Azure Data Stack, MS SQL Server, Analysis Services, and SSIS.
Software and Web Development Track:
Work in coordination with Ticketing, Marketing, Accounting, Credentials and Premium Services departments to write, test, and deploy production code on a number of our production applications. Key applications include VIP credential software, IMS.com, Indycar.com, and our in-house ticket sales platform. The role will have exposure to many new cloud technologies, JavaScript frameworks, and traditional .Net technologies. Strong HTML skills preferred.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
  • Responsible for participating in agile ceremonies including daily scrums, sprint planning, etc.
  • Identify broken, outdated, and inefficient business processes
  • Working extended hours during the Month of May
  • Training and self-taught skills enhancement
  • Effectively communications, organizes work and has attention to detail
  • Create and maintain efficient, productive, and solutions for business processes

QUALIFICATIONS:
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Education
  • Currently pursuing Bachelor of Science degree from accredited college/university in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Technology, or similar program

Skills/Experience
  • Software Development Track
    • HTML, CSS, JS
    • C# .Net or similar object-oriented development
    • Experience with Vue.js, Next.js, and/or React
    • Familiar with the SDLC

  • Database and BI Track
    • SQL, SSIS, Power BI, SSRS, Analysis Services

Travel/Work Hours
  • No regular travel required; Flexibility and adaptability are key skills needed for this role.
  • We are seeking a candidate who can work 10-20 hours a week through the Spring and then start full time in early May through August.
  • Depending on the candidate's situation and location, some flexibility could be given to enable remote work, however the candidate will be required to live in the Indianapolis area May - August.
