What you get to do every day
- Minimize false alarms by appropriately configuring database monitoring utilities
- Manage all database instances across development, staging, and production environments, handling installation, configuration, and maintenance
- Ensure the design and execution of database server topology, configuration, and maintenance meet SLA objectives
- Establish the baseline for system performance, recognize deviation, and suggest and implement improvements to slow running queries
- Find the most effective solution for increasing performance, including purchasing hardware and making changes to the server configuration or index/query
- Make suggestions regarding database design, tuning options, and other potential issues
- Fix database service outages as they occur, including after hours and weekends- Relevant background in building and maintaining documentation
- Skilled at making improvements to query performance
- Understanding of production environments and being on-call
- Storage and server hardware experience a plus
- Strong knowledge of relational database management systems
- 3+ years of database experience
- Solid understanding of Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM)
