Position Description
This role will report to the Director of Information Systems. The Data Warehouse (DW) Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining Business Intelligence solutions by creating and maintaining multiple relational databases which contain strategic information that the various Business Intelligence teams can use for analysis and creation of meaningful reports by transforming raw source data into a structured set of objects that drive business value.
The DW Engineer must display the ability to deliver results in a timely manner. The minimum and preferred skills are listed below.
Experience
- Excellent communication skills, organizational skills, negotiation skills, and flexibility to address competing demands.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability to design an effective solution.
- Extensive experience using Microsoft SQL Server, SSIS, SSAS, and SSRS (4+ years).
- Strong Excel skills preferred.
- Ability to work effectively with internal stakeholders to meet the data needs of the business, translating business needs into analytical requirements.
- Ability to manage multiple projects at a time and prioritize accordingly in a fast-paced environment.
- Pro-active work style and creative problem solver who can handle multiple projects, demonstrating a strong work ethic.
- Excellent attention to detail, quality, and follow-through; commitment to continuous improvement and the elimination of performance variability.
- Data modeling with ER/Studio, Erwin, or other data modeling tools preferred.
In-depth understanding of the following:
- Data Warehouse Modeling using Kimball and Inmon Methodologies.
- 3NF Database Normalization Standards
- Advanced T-SQL Query Scripting and Performance Tuning.
- SSAS Multi-Dimensional Cube Development.
- SSIS Integration Package Development. SSRS Report Development.
Essential Skills and Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain physical databases, Data Warehouses with star and snowflake schemas using logical multi-dimensional data models, OLAP cubes, ETL layer design and data integration strategies.
- Implement data quality, data integrity, and data standardization efforts across databases enabling key business processes.
- Strong proficiency in SQL and query writing is required.
- Create, maintain, and enhance ETL/ELT pipelines using SSIS to integrate, scrub or manipulate data from various sources. Implement SSAS, SSIS, and SSRS processes to improve data gathering for reports upon development.
- Design and build T-SQL code to extract, transform and load the data into the star schema objects.
- Provide support to all Data Warehouse initiatives and interact closely with Business Analysis teams\BI Reporting teams to ensure understanding of proper use of data architecture.
- Collaborate with corporate stakeholders to define and implement actionable metrics, KPIs and data visualizations.
- Scrutinize the company's present data infrastructure, identify gaps, and recommend improvements to enhance existing ETL and data integration processes to enable performance and overall scalability.
- Perform troubleshooting on all ETL processes and resolve issues effectively.
- Debug and tune queries for semantic layer.
- Design, code, test, correct and document programs and scripts using agreed standards and tools to achieve a well-engineered result.
- Derive an overall strategy of data management, within an established information architecture that supports the development and secure operation of existing and new information and digital services.
- Gathers and processes raw, structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data using batch and real-time data processing frameworks.
- Ensures data quality and implements tools and frameworks for automating the identification of data quality issues.
- Collaborate with internal and external data providers on data validation providing feedback and making customized changes to data feeds and data mappings.
You will be required to “test into” your skill sets to show level of aptitude. This position is available for commuting to our home office in Pflugerville, TX but is also open to 100% remote work for the right candidate if you live outside of the area.

Pay: $125,000.00 per year
