We have an immediate opening for a Mid-level Data Scientist to the support to Navy Enterprise Business Solutions program office. The Data Scientist provides support for all types of data, e.g., financial, logistics, IT, and other business data. The data science and analytics team will develop strategies and action plans for the program office. More detailed requirements and skills required for this position are detailed below.
Limited travel may be required to the Washington D.C. area if needed.
Responsibilities- The candidate will provide data analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence support for a Government Program Office.
- The candidate will provide data analysis for financial data, logistics data, and other business relevant data.
- The candidate is required to develop analytical models and conduct exploratory data science studies.
- Evaluation of existing data-collection and analytics systems.
- Perform testing, implementation, and documentation of BI systems.
- Capability to develop predictive models and machine learning algorithms.
- Perform big data analysis to identify trends and patterns.
- Transforming business requirements into technical specifications.
- Establishment of data sharing procedures with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensuring the usage of accurate and secure methods for data extraction.
- Implementing data visualization techniques to present valuable insights.
- Perform activities to load, query, extract and validate data.
- Refresh databases with current data, ensure data is correct and prepare reports and other deliverables for our clients.
- Identify problems and proactively look for areas to automate and improve.
- Perform quality assurance functions to validate data, software, hardware, or procedure changes.
- Communicate and work with other IMS cross functional teams.
- The candidate MUST have an ACTIVE DOD Secret Clearance
- Must have a bachelor's degree in a related field.
- Must have at least 3-5 years of experience in data science, specifically in data loading and analysis.
- Must have experience participating on teams with Government personnel, other contractors, and systems integrators for program strategies, data collection, and providing meaningful metrics and analysis.
- Must have basic research and data collection skills.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Outlook, and proficient in typing.
- Must have organizational and time management skills, be able to manage time, be on time to meetings, and juggle priorities.
- Must be capable of communicating effectively in writing as well as verbally at a senior management level
- Must be capable of performing effectively individually and as part of a team
- Must be able to work with minimal oversight and meet deadlines
- Must have effective analytical and problem-solving skills
- Must have short-term and long-term planning skills
