Data Scientist

Job Description Overview:

As a Data Scientist, you will assist in the development of a data pipeline for the NUC Business Unit. You will identify relevant data sources and sets to mine for client business needs, and collect large structured and unstructured datasets and variables

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Digest large, complex transaction datasets into distilled analytics that help the business identify new opportunities.
• Analyze data for trends and patterns and interpret data with clear objectives in mind.
• Collaborate with business partners to identify and improve data structure and visualization in support of business KPIs.
• Drive ownership of your own projects while balancing speed of execution and business value.
• Define and operationalize the detailed tracking of team-specific, and product-specific performance metrics via rollout tables, dashboards, and automated reporting.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Comfort using advanced and descriptive statistics
• Ability to work confidently in a rapidly changing, fast-paced and results-oriented corporate environment where a high degree of flexibility is required
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, Mandarin fluency a plus
• Eagerness to improve our data infrastructure and how we report analytics to the broader organization
• A collaborative growth mindset with a dedication to community-based projects and partnerships

Required Qualifications:

Years of Education

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science or related field is desired

Work Experience

• 3+ years of relevant experience working with data visualizations
• Ability to join multiple tables and data sources into an aggregated form that drives business understanding
• Experience with a scripting language (Python, R, and/or Spark) and respective data analysis libraries

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working on data related to supply chain is a plus
• Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, research-oriented group that has several concurrent projects
• Masters degree or equivalent
   

Working Conditions:

• Office Only: Typically works in an office environment

• Requires sitting, operating a computer keyboard, telephone and other office equipment for extended periods of time
• Minimal travel requirements <10%
