Data Scientist
Position Summary
A Data Scientist writes, documents, and maintains analysis and reporting software, both for internal and commercial applications. A Data Scientist authors internal study reports to support activities in the following areas: research and development, validation, production, quality control, quality assurance, and regulatory affairs. When working on software projects, a Data Scientist should understand the specifications and schedules of the projects and work efficiently with their project managers, other developers, and testers to produce high quality design documentation and software. A Data Scientist is expected to identify any improvements, correction, and updates and communicate with stakeholders.
A Data Scientist is expected to interact and work with IT, Software Engineering, R&D, Quality, and Regulatory teams. Strong verbal, presentation, and technical writing skills are necessary to be successful.
Education and Experience
Ph.D. degree in computer science, mathematics, or a scientific field.
2+ years of experience in software development, mathematical and/or statistical analysis, or another related field.
Desired Skills
Programming Skills
- Experience with one or more of the following: C#, Java, Python, C/C++, MATLAB, R, Minitab, or SAS
- Windows OS experience
- Experience with Linux command line and Git version control systems
Engineering Skills
- Source control
- Defect tracking
- Build systems
- Experience with SQL server architecture/data engineering practices
