Sorenson Communications Data Science and Engineering department is providing an internship in Data Science, through a structured program. You will have an opportunity to work with a team where your experience and training will be leveraged. A manager will guide, mentor, and teach you some of the critical elements of your chosen career pathway. You will establish learning objectives that you will pursue as part of your work at Sorenson. Depending on your role you will look for cause/effect relationships, use data to support improved decision-making, manage data transformation and do deep analyses of internal and external data. You will collaborate with others to provide insight and to find answers to questions that are best answered with data.
Experience/Education/Additional Info
Education: Certifications (ex: Datacamp Associate or Professional Data Scientist), Technical College Degree, currently attending college (i.e., completed junior year at time of internship) or currently attending college or recently graduated.
Duration: up to 6 months, Full-time
Office Environment: 100% Remote
Pay: Between $20.00 - $35.00 per hour (Based on Experience, Education, and Location)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Support Data Science team with day-to-day operations
- Participate in the planning, design, implementation, and maintenance of Advanced Analytics products including Machine Learning, Computational Statistics, and large-scale Data Engineering.
- Assist with the documentation of designs, standards, data flow models, etc.
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Decent Programing Skills in Python
- Understanding of ANSI SQL
- Experience working in Jupyter style notebooks like Databricks
- Strong mathematical and documentation skills.
- Willing to learn a lot about Data Science at scale and real world implementations of the craft.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
- Punctual and reliable attendance.
- Ability to sit and/or stand at a desk and work with a computer for extended periods of time.
- Positive attitude, team player, good interpersonal communication skills and able to work across company departments.
