Position Components
In this role, you will work with colleagues in the JNJ Innovative Medicine R&D Data Science & Digital Health organization and partner with key businesses across JNJ Innovative Medicine (formerly Janssen) to apply advanced Data Science and analytics to answer key research questions. As an intern, you will get the opportunity to work on cutting-edge problems at the intersection of machine learning and healthcare. You will be a member of a dynamic team comprising data scientists and subject matter experts to create and iterate on Data Science solutions. Projects will be focused on using real-world data for improving clinical trial operations: Examples of topics on which the team works are: Clinical trial site selection, clinical trial protocol document analysis with NLP, and improving trial diversity, equity & inclusion . Interns could be located out of our US locations in Titusville, Raritan, Spring House, Boston, as well as fully remote.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computational Biology, Biomedical Informatics, or a related quantitative discipline.
- Strong working knowledge of advanced analytics & machine learning.
- Familiarity with predictive modeling and analysis of large datasets.
- Proficiency in the following programming languages: SQL and Python.
- Strong technical communication and presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in one or more of the following -
- Knowledge and experience in analysis of healthcare datasets: claims, EHR, …
- Knowledge of Data Science tools such as pandas, and at least 1 ML library (scikit-learn, H2O, …)
- Familiarity with code versioning (Git) & Jira
- Basic knowledge of NLP
- Learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch or Keras)
- Big data analysis via cloud computing (for instance AWS)
