Job Overview:
A Data Quality Specialist is an individual responsible for establishing and maintaining high standards of data integrity and accuracy within an organization. Their primary focus is on ensuring that data is reliable, complete, consistent, and aligned with the organization's data governance policies. The key responsibilities of a Data Quality Specialist include:
- Data Profiling and Assessment: The person performs comprehensive data profiling exercises to identify potential issues, such as duplicate records, missing values, or inconsistent data formats. They evaluate Data Quality against predefined criteria and develop Data Quality metrics to measure and track progress over time.
- Data Cleansing and Standardization: Once data issues are identified, collaborate with various stakeholders to develop data cleansing strategies. Employ data cleaning techniques, such as deduplication, validation, and standardization, to rectify inaccuracies and inconsistencies. By applying Data Quality rules and standards, they ensure data consistency and reliability throughout the organization.
- Data Quality Control and Monitoring: Implement robust Data Quality control processes to monitor the ongoing quality of data. They establish Data Quality benchmarks and implement data monitoring mechanisms to proactively identify and resolve data issues. Regular audits and Data Quality checks are conducted to ensure compliance with data governance policies and industry regulations.
- SKU Governance: Create new SKUs, Updating old SKUs to assembly SKUS. Work with Making/Ecomm for Marketplace and website SKU issues. Manage the Master SKU list for Ledge associates to validate SKUs as well as pricing.
- SKU Rationalization: Determine margins based on cost scenarios. Work with Product Management on new SKU rationalization. Work with Manufacturing and Engineering through time studies to update costs of In-House Manufacturing.
- SKU Margin adherence and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) compliance: Ensure SKUs follow the proper cadence and vetting process to ensure “real” margin. Make the right decisions upon SKU creation/allocation so that the impact is to the proper accounts on the P&L or Income statement.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- Proven experience in data management and quality assurance.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data manipulation tools (e.g., SQL, Python).
- Understanding of data governance principles and policies.
- Experience in SKU governance, margin analysis, and TCO compliance.
