About the role:

Gartner Analysts are industry thought leaders who create must-have research, market predictions and best practices for a broad range of world-leading organizations. A Senior Principal dives deep into research and analysis of complex datasets to identify problems and develop strategies that help clients solve problems and improve their company’s performance. A Senior Principal is also a trusted source of advice for clients, reinforcing Gartner’s value every day by engaging clients via in-person meetings, virtual meetings, sales support visits and events to discuss complex client challenges and offer appropriate recommendations. 

What you will do:  

  • Conduct research and analysis in Data Loss Prevention and Data Classification and adjacent topics such as Privacy and Insider Risk. 

  • Respond to client questions and deliver high quality actionable advice through a variety of media. 

  • Write high quality, clear, actionable, advisory research documents focused on Data Loss Prevention and Data Classification Strategies, Tools, and Policies. 

  • Predict how Data Loss Prevention markets are developing, help clients in their selection process and provide feedback to vendors on emerging trends in buyer needs.

  • Remain ahead of the curve on developments and issues within these specified areas, through peer collaboration from the data security team.

  • Proactively work with the wider sales organization and deliver outstanding sales support in order to retain and grow the business.

This means you will need to further develop your knowledge of your markets, vendors, trends, management practices. Gartner Analysts are team players who value expert insights, bold ideas and intellectual courage. 

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred

  • 8-10 years of relevant field or industry experience in a research, technology, or compliance related role 

  • Subject matter familiarity in data security with the ability to demonstrate understanding of the business and compliance benefits and emerging technologies in that market. 

  • Help us see the future & be creative. You must be a lifelong learner with foundational knowledge and experience in Data Security and Cybersecurity in general.

  • An understanding of data security concepts and markets, including Data Loss Prevention, Data Classification, Data Security Policies.

  • Familiarity with the Data Loss Prevention capabilities of vendors like Microsoft, Symantec, Forcepoint, Netskope, Zscaler

  • Familiarity with data security considerations for cloud, SaaS and on-premises environments

  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 10%

  • Business Acumen . Understand how an organization operates (risks and opportunities) and the drivers of a company's performance.

  • Intellectual Agility . Analytical thinker with the ability to process and understand information quickly, diagnose the issue in order to take positions and make actionable intelligent recommendations.

  • Collaboration. Can collaborate productively, build relationships, and move work forward with internal partners and clients.

  • Communication. Can engage in clear, effective dialogue on complex concepts, and communicate them with poise.

  • Leadership and Influence. Persuades, encourages, or gains the support of others and causes them to take action.

  • Ownership & Impact. Accepts personal accountability, takes ownership and perseveres. Embrace feedback.
