Data Insights Lead is responsible for leading strategic analyses for the Strategic Insights team. The analyst will serve as the technical expert on the team for the data assets and products that the team interacts with. The position is expected to have a high proficiency in data acquisition (from Data Warehouses & Platforms), ETL processes, and turning the engineered data into visualizations for insight generation. You will combine your technical skills and your soft skills to prepare presentations of high-level stakeholders, implement scalable data solutions and help chart the long-term strategy of Varian.
Role:
  • Continuously discover trends in customer behavior that inform high-level decision-making by using languages (Python, SQL, R) to wrangle data and do descriptive analysis.
  • Enable teams to make strategic decisions more effectively & autonomously by developing & overseeing automated reporting capabilities.
  • Work with cross-functional partners and executives in product, engineering, finance, and marketing to define and achieve business goals, and to build data-informed business strategy and roadmaps.
  • Drive research and analysis to identify potential areas of data management and operations improvement and build products to solve problems while improving efficiency.
  • Transform technical outputs into formats that are digestible to the end users through visualizations, clear tables, and/or thoughtful presentations. Assist technical and non-technical end users in how to leverage and interpret the analysis.
  • Drive adoption of data products and insights across business teams by visualizing results and crafting effective communications to share discoveries.

Required Skills:
  • Strong project management skills including stakeholder management and ability to work well with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytic capability including data querying, cleaning, and distilling insights for executive decision-making (ex: global orders and pricing analysis).
  • Experience with data modeling, ETL (Extraction, Transformation & Load) concepts, and patterns for efficient data governance.
  • Previous experience querying and developing on a Data Warehouse (i.e Snowflake, Databricks SQL, Redshift, Azure SQL).
  • Excellent presentation skills with the ability to influence at the senior level.
  • Robust history of developing complex data visualizations with embedded custom functions.
  • Strong technical skills including SQL, PowerBI, and Excel.
  • Experience architecting scalable data pipelines and products.

Nice to Have:
  • Knowledge and comfort with the PowerApps and PowerPlatforms ecosystem.
  • Knowledge of Varian's products and portfolio and competitive landscape.

The base pay range for this position is
Min $88,800 - Max $155,400
The pay wage range shown is based on the job posting's primary location. Actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors, including but not limited to skill set, experience, certifications, and location.
