As a Data Governance Analyst on the PRO Operations Enablement team, your primary focus will be supporting the data governance activities that enable Starbucks PRO (Human Resources Organization) to thrive. This job contributes to Starbucks's success by working collaboratively across the enterprise with stakeholders around the globe. You will act as a steward of PRO (HR) data and ensure the quality and integrity of data across Starbucks systems. This critical data set enables proper functionality across multiple business processes. Without accurate data, all other segments will not function properly. You will also participate as a subject matter expert in projects and data products (i.e., Organization 360) that impact PRO data, analyze complex systems, and process issues impacting data quality, and recommend operational process improvements and technical solutions. This role models and acts in accordance with Starbucks's Mission and Values. Seattle area preferred.
As a Data Governance Analyst, you will develop and enhance data operations and programs to promote, maintain, and ensure data quality, integrity, and Continuous Improvement efforts. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Responsible for executing and maintaining the governance processes to create, maintain, and deactivate data per data governance rules and Starbucks retention schedule to promote and ensure data accuracy, integrity, consistency, security, and compliance.
  • Act as a key resource and subject matter expert for data products and enterprise data stakeholders by providing detailed knowledge about PRO data attributes, their use, and their impact on downstream systems, processes, policies, and standards.
  • Apply industry-standard data governance practices to daily activities including data use review in partnership with compliance teams (Governance Risk & Compliance, Global Cyber Security, Enterprise Architecture, Privacy, and Legal).
  • Document PRO data definitions, standards, and rules in the enterprise metadata platform.
  • Intake, review, and act on Add/Change/Delete data or data product governance requests.
  • Work with team and management to address and/or resolve operational issues impacting data quality.
  • Monitor data integrity, analyze large amounts of data, and develop summarized reporting for data quality performance indicators.
  • Analyze changes to business rules/requirements and recommend solutions to address data quality issues.

We'd love to hear from people with:
  • Summary of Experience:
    • Experience with data governance including data use review, maintaining data dictionary, and documenting data standards in metadata platform- 3 years.
    • Ability to develop and execute queries that are moderate to complex. Experience extracting, manipulating, and analyzing data to recommend and/or take action - 3 years.
    • Experience documenting business and system requirements, processes, workflows, data mapping, and test plans - 3 years
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field or equivalent professional experience.
    • Strong understanding of data attributes in the context of HR business processes and enterprise tools.
    • Strong understanding of and proficiency with data gathering, management, analysis, and visualization tools.
    • Highly skilled and experienced in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
    • Strong critical thinking, decision-making, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
    • Detailed-oriented with strong analytical proficiency.
    • Excellent customer service, and verbal/written communication skills, including technical writing and communicating technical issues to non-technical audiences.
    • Ability to simplify and structure complex ambiguous problems and processes in a concise and effective way.
    • Ability to lead business and technical stakeholders in brainstorming and decision-making conversations.
    • Experience with SAP HCM and SuccessFactors Employee Central (preferred).
