Data Engineer

We Are Looking to Add a Key Member to Our Data Delivery team!
A Data Engineer designs, documents, implements, and manages data solutions on the Microsoft Azure cloud and On-premise data platforms. They are responsible for creating and maintaining data pipelines, data storage solutions, data processing, and data integration to enable data-driven decision-making inside a company. The ideal candidate will have a passion for driving business value via data by making high quality data readily accessible for data champions throughout the enterprise. This position will work closely with the product teams in the development and implementation of data management strategies at the enterprise level that deliver consistent business definitions and data quality.
As a Data Engineer, you will:

• Implement and operate stable, scalable and highly performant data pipelines that cleanse, structure and integrate data sets from source systems and third party data structures available in a staging environment into a consumable and accessible format for end user analyses and reporting
• Migrate legacy reporting data structures to new data platform
• Consult with product team resources regarding source system data structures and changes to those structures to ensure consistent business definitions and data quality
• Support infrastructure related to analytic toolset such as Tableau
• Promote the usage of Data Engineering and data management best practices across the enterprise
• Promote a data driven culture throughout GreatAmerica via active participation in a data champion community utilized for knowledge and best practice sharing
• Proficient with at least one programming language such as Python, Java, Scala, or C#
• A solid understanding of cloud computing concepts such as virtualization, containers, microservices and serverless computing
• Familiar with big data technologies like Databricks, Azure Synapse Analytics and Apache Spark

To be successful in this role you will need:
Education

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems or related field

Experience

• Experience creating or maintaining data pipelines in a classroom or workplace setting
• Experience working in an agile development environment a plus

Computer Skills

• Experience with SQL and ability to write efficient code
• Hands on experience supporting ETL processes. Familiarity with Azure Synapse Analytics a plus
• Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, QlikView, Power BI etc.
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL, Informatica, SSIS or Azure Data Factory

Other Requirements

• Ability to analyze existing tools and databases and provide recommendations
• Experience with data warehousing design and implementation
• Experience in methodologies and processes for managing databases on premise as well as cloud solutions
• Experience ensuring data quality across multiple datasets
