Job Description
**Position:**
- Seeking a Data Engineer to join the growing engineering team.
- Direct involvement in expanding data infrastructure and assets.
- Embedded part-time within Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
- Reports to the Director of Engineering and collaborates with Data Engineers and data scientists.
**Responsibilities:**
- Assist with/lead development of data automation and infrastructure projects.
- Research, assess, and integrate new data models in healthcare settings for de-identification and integration into a larger data lake.
- Develop and support serverless data ELT infrastructure.
- Continuously improve processes, methodologies, and approaches.
**Qualifications:**
- 5+ years development experience in big data, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Familiarity with Mac and Unix/Linux environments.
- Experience with sensitive data (HIPAA, GxP) in cloud and on-prem environments.
- Production cloud development environment experience (GCP preferred, AWS).
- Serverless development and architecture expertise.
- Cloud services management experience (Kubernetes, Compute Engine, BigTable, etc.).
- Operational experience with 2+ data languages (Python, Go, SQL, JS, etc.).
- Big data analysis warehousing and analysis tools experience (BigTable, Spark, Kafka, Hadoop).
- Advanced SQL knowledge and experience with relational/non-relational databases.
- Experience building and optimizing data pipelines, architectures, and datasets.
- Working knowledge of stream processing and highly scalable data stores.
- Experience in a dynamic, startup-like environment with cross-functional teams.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Bachelor's degree in a computer-related field, minimum 5+ years of working experience.
